Making my house mine, one gallon of paint and colorful idea at a time.
I’m Julie Goette! (Pronounced Goat-E.) I’m the elementary school sweetheart of my husband, Matt. I’m a mostly okayish, doing-my-best mom to my daughter, Erin. I’m a graphic designer extraordinaire by day and I have a debatably healthy obsession with home decor, antique malls, and scary books, TV shows and movies. I like chocolate and I worry about everything all of the time.
My family and I moved to a suburb of Atlanta in March of 2019 from Houston, Texas. We are originally from St. Louis, Missouri, so I’m a midwestern girl at heart. We built our house in Texas and I got to pick all of the finishes and live the dream of a designer. When we moved to Atlanta, we bought a lovely house, but inherited someone else’s style. From day one, I’ve been working my tail off to make it ours.
My BFF says an alternate title for this blog could be “It’s Just Paint!” based on the amount of times I’ve repainted things in my house!
With the encouragement of friends and some designers I truly admire, I’ve decided to start this blog. I’ll try to explain how I’m changing our house on a relatively limited budget, with a lot of creativity and a crap ton of paint. I like bright colors, geometric patterns, and mixing old things with new things. I collect art and trinkets from my travels and antiquing adventures. I hope you enjoy following along!
